I use laptop for my daily tasks. I am a person who is mobile for my job. Moving from one place to another requires me to deal with laptop everyday. Even my laptop is equipped with internal microphone and speakers, I must admit that I am not satisfied with the sound quality that my internal speakers produce. That is why I am thinking of purchasing laptop speakers. Dealing with many conference calls or meetings through laptop requires me to have laptop speakers for cleaner sound. Thus, I can move around without missing the details of conversation during conference call.

After doing some research through internet, I narrow down my choices to Creative Technology I-Trigue 2300 2.0 Premium and Logitech R-10. These laptop speakers are affordable with good sound quality. The design is elegant and small so that I can easily move them around. Technology I-Trigue 2300 2.0 Premium is a little bit higher in term of price because it is just released in the market while Logitech R-10 has been in the market for 2 years.

I do not look for laptop speakers with subwoofer because they are bulky. Although sometime I watch movies through my laptop, I prefer smaller speakers to make it easy to move around.

Hard Drive is the most important component of the IT system for data storage. For the past few years, there are many new players producing SCSI hard drives, SAS, Fibre / Fiber Channel, SATA & IDE desktop & laptop / notebook hard drives at cheaper prices. However, as an IT profressional (or IT users), you should not based the decision to buy solely on the lowest prices alone. Reasearch on pros and cons of selected vendors should be done to determine the product that fit to your needs. Always take note how important the data that you or your organization will store in the hard drives. Is it a main hard drive, or it is just a back up hard drive.

It is innevitable that research requires more time. Not to mention that many vendors available in market with less review about them. Trusting solely on the vendor’s website will not be objective as vendors are trying to show the positive sides of their products. Customers are the one exploiting the bad sides as well. Just like I was mentioned that new vendors seldom have reviews because not all customers publish their experience online.

That is why such company like Discountechnology exists. Their expertise and experiences on hard drives could save you research time. They have been in IT consulting for many years to help you choose the best SCSI drives or other drives type you need. Try to make a query on them and see it yourself whether they know what to propose for your needs.

Aside from providing discount hard drives, Discountechnology also offers mini PCI wireless cards, Dell PowerEdge servers, Dell Latitude laptops /notebooks. Located in San Diego, the company maintain the same day shipping for US customers. However, the company is not only limited for US customer, they are providing as well international shipping.

The only things that annoys me are:

1. The keyboard is very noise. I mean everything i tried to type fast, the sounds are annoying me very much.

2. The USB port is designed vertical. Thus, some of my flash drives that have wider body would bring me a hassle if I want to connect it to this Lenovo T61. Either I need to lift the laptop or move the laptop to the edge of the table so that it have some space to insert the flash drive into the vertical USB port of this Lenovo T61

Having a rattle sound when the hard disc is running is normal. However, if the noise is becoming noticeable over time, this could be considered not normal. The noise is coming from the disc that are rotating having a friction with the body.

During a normal condition, the friction is supposed to be minimum. Through time, the disc rotation becomes unbalance. This is usually happen for hard disc on the laptop . Due to movement, the disc could be misplace from its center of rotation a little bit. Unbalance rotation could cause more friction between the disc and the body. This can be detected with unusual rattle noise.

If this problem is not fixed, the noise could be more and more noticeable because after a time, the unbalance disc will be worse. The heavy friction could cause the body becomes very hot or even small burn. In the image on the right, you can see that the body of hard disc becomes black because of heavy friction happen for some time.

Therefore, if you experience the same problem, better back up your data before the hard disc is completely broken.

Intel Corp will celebrating its 40 year anniversary. This year as well is the mark of 5 year anniversary of Intel technology called Centrino. After 5 years of this technology, Intel plans to launch Intel Centrino 2 at the second quater of this year.

What makes Intel Centrino 2 different from its predecessor? It is claimed to be more energy saving, thus, the battery life of a laptop using Intel Centrino 2 based will be longer. Aside from that, it size will 60% smaller. It will be a good news for laptop manufactures as they can play around with the layout and sizes for the laptop they produce.
