Microsoft has started its relation with Nokia in 2005 when they are agreed to put Microsoft Window media players in Nokia cell phone. Their agreement has been tied when in 2007, Nokia cell phones are using software copy protection PlayReady Microsoft and Windows Live.
In 2008, Nokia is implementing video Web Silverlight technology of Microsoft in newly lauched Nokia cellphone.
Technologi Silverlight is planed to be initially implemented on cellphone with software S60 platform. However, the next strategy is to implement it on S40 platform that are used by budget Nokia cellphone. S60 platform commonly used by other smart phones produced by LG and Samsung. It is predicted that S60 platform cellphones will reach 150 million units this year.
Silverlight technology is a competitor of Adobe System Inc’s Flash technology. Even tough Nokia has decided to use Silverlight, Nokia still make use of Flash technology for their handset.
